Kinusaiga — Japanese Fabric Art
Discover the beautiful Japanese art of Kinusaiga, a traditional textile art that transforms small pieces of fabric into detailed artwork.
Originally inspired by the idea of reusing leftover kimono fabrics, Kinusaiga allows you to create a beautiful picture using fabric instead of paint, thread, or glue.
During the workshop, you’ll learn how to transfer a design onto a foam or wooden board, prepare the outlines, cut fabric pieces according to each section of the design, and carefully tuck the fabric edges into the prepared grooves using a special tool.
You’ll learn:
How to prepare and transfer your design
Choosing and combining fabrics
Cutting fabric according to the design
Working with the grooves and Kinusaiga tools
Creating clean edges and detailed finishes
You’ll take home: Your own finished Kinusaiga fabric artwork.
Level: Beginner-friendly — no previous art or sewing experience is required.
